Meet your hosts.

Michelle Matthews

Michelle Matthews is a lifelong traveller, publisher, and guide with an eye for the hidden details that make a place unforgettable. Through her publishing business, she created dining and bar guides for cities around the world, including Istanbul, Ibiza, and London, alongside titles for Bali that celebrated its rich food culture.

Based in Melbourne, Michelle has worked as a guide for Visit Victoria, leading VIPs and International media through the city and across the state with the same blend of insight and storytelling she brings to her tours abroad.

Her relationship with Bali runs deep: she has returned countless times, witnessed Mt Agung at her most volatile, and never lost the curiosity that drew her to solo travel as a teenager. With Rasa Voya, Michelle combines decades of experience with a passion for sharing curated, immersive, and personal journeys.

Alongside her work in publicity, Fiona is an accomplished radio producer and broadcaster, contributing to JOY 94.9’s flagship current affairs program Saturday Magazine.

Fiona first travelled to Bali more than 25 years ago, an experience that sparked a lifelong love affair with the island’s culture, people and creative spirit. Her continuing travels throughout Indonesia have deepened her appreciation for its rich traditions and sense of place. This underpins her work with Rasa Voya, where she looks forward to sharing the stories, flavours and spirit of Bali and Indonesia with others.

What We Offer

What makes Rasa Voya different?

Our tours are deliberately intimate, with a maximum of ten travellers, creating space for genuine connections. Each journey is a carefully curated mix of culture, design, food, and nature, combined with encounters that bring Bali to life in a thoughtful way. With our networks and local knowledge, you’ll enjoy experiences chosen for their authenticity and character—whether that’s a walk through rice terraces, time with artisans, or a meal in a tucked-away setting. This is travel at its most considered: immersive, enriching, and delightfully personal.

Who leads the tours?

Your hosts are experienced travel professionals with decades in hospitality, guiding, and publishing. We’re locals by love (if not by birth), with strong networks in Bali and across Indonesia. That means doors open for us that don’t for most visitors—from a private walk with a rice farmer to an after-hours studio visit with a designer.

How physically active do I need to be?

Our tours are enriching rather than exhausting, but it helps to be reasonably sure-footed. Bali’s charm often comes with uneven paths and plenty of steps—worth it for the views, right? Expect walking tours, temple visits, market strolls, and the occasional light hike to waterfalls or rice terraces. Leave the stilettos at home, pack your comfortable walking shoes, and take it at your own pace. There are always options to pause, rest, or choose a gentler path if you prefer.

How many people are on the tour?

We cap our groups at 10 travellers. This ensures personal attention, flexibility, and a more authentic connection to the places and people we visit.
